My new toy...

Well, I never thought that I would be "one of those people" who was so over protective of everything that their children did but I appear to be one... at least when it comes to what my child eats! I am still nursing Chayse which is amazing in itself because I never thought that I would do it this long and she has been a very healthy baby so, I want to keep her on that track. She has started "eating" and I want to make sure she is eating healthy stuff with no added junk in it so I took on the task of making her food. I am also making food for Archie, the son of a great friend of mine, so I make it in bulk. Anyhow, I was trying a processor that was not getting the job done sooooooo, I decided to upgrade. I went a little crazy and got the blender that I have been eyeballing for a while. I have always wondered if I could justify the cost of it when you can get a blender for 15 bucks but, I decided to go ahead and get it because I can always use it later with breads, cupcakes, mashed potatoes.... I have to say, this thing is AWESOME! It is a Kitchenaid Professional 600 6-Qt. Stand Mixer and it is awesome. Of course I had to get the attachments that went with it and as I already said, twice I think, this thing is AWESOME and is worth every penny. Our kitchen is stainless steel but I really liked the black one better so, here is a picture of my new toy. Anyone else have one of these things and if so, how do you like it??

Ooooohh! Pretty!

When you get a chance, can you blog about your food making process? I didn't do that with Steven and wish I had. I'm intrested to try. Thanks!!!

I have a fire engine red one and I love it!!! I have so much baby food for Landry...I kinda went overboard but she is going to be one healthy, organically fed kid! I didn't use mine to make her food. I bought a Magic Bullet which I highly recommend for those that cannot afford your Mack Daddy new toy!! Either way, it's the best way to go and you won't be sorry you did it.

For those of you who want to know about the process. I use organic mainly...butternut squash, baby carrots, yellow squash, english peas, green beans & cauliflower(for later). I steam everything(except the butternut squash--I bake it) and puree with a little water. Freeze in ice cube trays and put in large, labeled Ziploc bags. Each one is about 1 oz so I use 2-3 cubes of each kind and microwave for 1 minute to heat. I also got brown rice mixed it in my processor until it was powder and cooked it down to mush. It is like lava so be careful when you are fooling with it. Homemade is best and I am so glad you are doing this for Chayse!

I LOVED THE RED ONE!!!! I looked at the red one but everything in my house is burgandy so I knew it would look crazy and the stainless one looked weird too so I went with the black one. I already had the Cusinart processor and it wasn't even shreading the carrots all that well, and it was 60 bucks, so I was kinda leary of the Bullet because it was 100. I thought if I am going to invest in this thing, I am going to get what I want! The veggie/fruit strainer and grinder will puree everything down though!! It works very well and I am very pleased with it.

Claudia,
I have also steamed the carrots and squash as well... and we have baked sweet potatos. Green stuff has not been added into the diet yet!! We also use ice cube trays to freeze in and then dump them into a freezer safe bag. We put ours in the frig and let them thaw, then set them out so they can get to room temp. because of two reasons...
1. The whole process of plastic breaking down in the microwave
2. Glass is so stinking hot when you pull it out of the microwave!

It's kinda fun to do, but it does take some time. I didn't go back to work so I can spend an afternoon nap time doing it and it is no problem... If someone who is reading this is working and is interested, you could do a food a night for a couple days and get a stash built up that will last a months.

I don't have a kitchenaid, but I have a Sears replica that I absolutely adore! When my first stand mixer got broken by accident by my daughter I cried. My husband quickly went out and bought a replacement that was even better than the first! I LOVE IT SO MUCH :) Enjoy Yours!!!
